Join us for a conversation with Claire Costin, CPA, Ph.D., Assistant Professor at the University of Portland, about the power of active listening in boosting diversity and fostering inclusion within academic and professional environments. We will explore the role that listening plays in understanding the unique perspectives and challenges faced by individuals from underrepresented backgrounds, particularly in the realms of accounting and finance. We’ll look at what real-life stories, trends, and research tell us about how creating spaces for these voices can lead to more inclusive and equitable practices. Building on the foundation of understanding and empathy, this session aims to equip participants with perspectives, philosophies, and information to enact change in their spheres of influence. We will discuss practical strategies for individuals and organizations to not only hear but act on the insights gained through listening, to transform good intentions into impactful actions.
This webinar is an opportunity to learn from Dr. Costin's extensive research and experience in integrating diversity and inclusion principles into teaching and professional practice, providing a roadmap for fostering a culture of belonging and equity.
